Uncle JegaDato’ J. Jegathesan was born in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia in 1944. Dato’ is a title conferred by the Malaysian Monarchy to honor prominent citizens, similar to the title Sir, conferred by the British Monarchy. He was one of five children. His father died when he was seven years old. His mother, a school teacher, worked two jobs to ensure that her children would have a good education.

Jegathesan graduated from the University of Malaysia with a degree in Economics. He joined the Malaysian Government and was soon on the fast track to success. He had a prestigious job, a fine house, a loving wife named Shanti and four children. He was charming, charismatic and a great orator. Once he got in front of an audience, he could easily convince foreign governments and businesses into the idea of investing their money in Malaysia.
Jegathesan was also an agnostic because no one could answer the question, “where is God?”. He used his charm, devastating humour and silver tongue to slash the religious beliefs of his family and friends.

June 1976 was a turning point in his life. He had a profound spiritual experience and he began to read about religion - Hinduism, Christianity, Islam, Buddhism, and Taoism, the major religions of Malaysia.
Guided and motivated by Bhagavan Sri Sathya Sai Baba and HIS urgings that a HINDU MUST BECOME A BETTER HINDU, A BETTER CHRISTIAN etc & HIS call for Service to Humanity and Unity of Faiths, his living room became an Inter Faith shrine.
His newfound spirituality and dedication to God was steadfast and never wavered. His star continued to rise in the Malaysian Government and soon he was the Deputy Director General of the Malaysian Industrial Development Authority. He was now travelling the world, meeting with captains of industry, presidents and prime ministers.

Heeding the Lord’s call to know your own religion and to respect other religions, he began researching the major religions and writing books about his spiritual journey within. The voice that once made fun of those who believed in God now sang praises to the Lord, the one God of all religions. He began writing bhajans (devotional songs) in English and Tamil and to date has over 1300 to his credit.
His books include Everyday Human Values, Unleashing the Power of the Human Mind, Journey to God, Evolution :Science & Spirituality, UNITY OF FAITHS ( a study of 11 Religions) the Husband Memorandum,  and his most recent effort “SPARKS OF THE DIVINE FIRE: GLIMPSES OF THE VEDAS”,  as well as a video on the importance of understanding Hinduism and its scientific inner significances.

In 1998 his wife Shanti passed away and he further plunged into spirituality, dedicating himself to the service of humanity. A year later he retired from the Malaysian Government. But he is busier than ever. He is a widely respected and sought after consultant with the United Nations International Development Organization (UNIDO) and the United Nations Council on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), where he is working to improve the economic future of Africa. His goal is to economically turn at least one African nation around.
From the year 2005 he has been working as Sr. Economic Advisor to the Japanese Govt. Agency called “Japan International Cooperation Agency” (JICA) and working with the Government of Zambia, the challenge is to make Zambia an emerging Role Model for Africa.

In his spare time, Jegathesan travels the globe, at the invitation of various organizations, to conduct sadhana camps for youth and to share his Indian TRAC (Traditions, Religion, Aspiration and Culture) seminars with Indian families. The reason he is giving these free seminars is because of what he has observed in his worldwide travels. “In just one generation,” said Jegathesan,“over 7000 years of Hindu tradition is disappearing, uncared for by the young generation of Hindus! It is disappearing because Hindu parents do not understand their own religion and the reasons behind their rituals. It is disappearing because their children and young adults falsely believe that Hinduism is an old religion of many Gods and confusing weird looking deities which they don’t understand. They are embarrassed of their own TRAC.”

The purpose of the free TRAC seminars is to bring Hindu children and their parents back on the spiritual track by exploring the beauty and explaining the mysteries, mysticism and symbolism of the Hindu deities, the meaning behind the rituals, bhajans and mantras, as well as the advent of self-realised masters and avatars.
They are designed to revive a sense of pride and put you back in touch with your heritage, beautiful traditions, timeless religion and ageless culture. Another objective of the seminars is to bring families closer together in truth and love, through shared understanding.

In 2006, Divinity, pleased with his dedication to God, Religion, Work and Family, blessed him with a 2nd marriage. He married Sivalalita Manicka who has become a great shakti in his life. She is a Director of JJ International Consultants (where Bro. Jega is the CEO) and is part of his official consultancy with the Japanese Govt. (JICA).
She is also his support in his TRAC sessions and his work with Youth and Interfaith activities.
She has written a book called ‘A MODERN HINDU IN SEARCH OF TRAC” (a compilation of religious festivals, and how one can invoke divinity in one’s home, during these periods) and is also a co-author of a book which serves as a comprehensive Manual for teachers/ volunteers dealing with challenges of Teen Youth.
