WHAT IS TRAC?
   Submitted October 7, 2006

TRAC stands for Tradition, Religion, Aspiration and Culture. The goal of the TRAC program is to help today's generation gain a better understanding of Hindu culture and traditions. It provides a means for today's youth and young-adults to understand the many mysteries, mysticisms, and symbolisms that makeup the core of Hindu beliefs.

TRADITION
Passed down from generation to generation traditions make up the framework of Hinduism. traditionThe customs, beliefs and practices accumulated throughout history form the views and ways our our religion. Unfortunately, in just one generation, thousands of years of Hindu tradition has dissappeared. An understanding of Hinduism requires an understanding and respect for the many rituals and ceremonies that have evolved to become Hindu tradition. TRAC seeks to infuse an understaning of traditional Hindu culture into the lives of the youth. By sharing our knowledge we not only renew the Hindu tradition, we also renew ourselves.

RELIGION
Commonly referred to as a system of faith or belief, religion is made up of the moral codes, practices and institutions associated with a particular culture.   In its broadest sense, religion is a culture's way of explaining the relationship between humankind and the universe. The fundamental belief of Hinduism is the connection between the physical and divine worlds. We are all sparks from a single fire. And we are all fire. Hinduism believes in the omnipresence of the Supreme God in every individual. Man is not cut off from the divine. He requires only to bring the spontaneous activity of his mind to a state of stillness and he will experience the divine presence within him.

ASPIRATION
The power that drives progress, aspiration motivates us to achieve goals that have deep meaning.aspiration In the context of TRAC, aspiration is the drive to realize a greater understanding of all the varied components that makeup Hindu culture. The aspirations of the TRAC community are fueled by the active participation of individuals and organizations around the world. As we work towards the common end of preserving Hindu values and traditions, we instill a renewed sense of pride and understanding in the youth, who in turn will aspire to further develop the TRAC movement and continue to sustain the world's oldest religion.

" Far away, there in the sunshine are my highest aspirations. I may not reach them, but I can look up and see their beauty, believe in them, and try to follow where they lead" - Louisa May Alcott

CULTURE
The cultivation of all aspects related to a particular society, aspiration culture is what gives significance to the structures and activities that makeup our daily lives. Though the effects of culture as a means of guidance is profound, culture itself is a fragile phenomenon that exists only in the minds of those who wish to practice and perpetuate it. Culture is shared knowledge. Our written languages, governments, buildings, and other man-made things are merely the material products of culture. They are not culture in themselves. The essence of a culture is in how its members choose to recognize its traditional ideas and values, practice them in everyday life, and pass them on to future generations.
